I Will Dance

Recently a bunch of youth from our church went to John 3:16 Mission to help with their VBS. One of the students was telling a story about how the kids weren't really very well behaved. How it was really hard teaching the lesson because of how loud they were all being. Then her attitude changes as she begins to tell about the praise and worship experience. She said the the kids singing and dancing just made everything all better. It put a smile on her face and made it all worth it. Just watching them dance, changed everything. Their joy and delight as they lost themselves in the music was really something to see.
It made me think about how God delights in our praise and our dancing before Him. I know that even if I never did He would still love me with a passion but I wonder if my praise "makes it all worth it" so to speak. It's like all my faults just melt away and He's as joyful in that moment as I am. I know He never gives up on me but does He tire of my constant complaining? Does He long to hear my voice full of thankfulness? I think He delights when I loose myself and dance like David. I think it releases something between us. Releases the tension some how. Releases blessing. It probably makes us easier to work with, to teach, when we turn to Him with praise and express ourselves in the freedom He offers.

So let's dance today. It makes everything a little better.

Psalm 89:5 MSG
...The Right and Justice are the roots of your rule; Love and Truth are its fruits. Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise, who shout on parade in the bright presence of God. Delighted, they dance all day long; they know who you are, what you do—they can't keep it quiet! Your vibrant beauty has gotten inside us— you've been so good to us! We're walking on air! All we are and have we owe to God, Holy God of Israel, our King!
